In order to change the users or the behavior of GrFinger Desktop Login, you must use a program called GrFinger Desktop Login Manager, which allows you to:
- Add a user
- Edit user data
- Delete a user
- View user data
- Change the user interface language
To start GrFinger Desktop Login Manager, follow the steps below:
- Go to GrFinger Desktop Login folder at the Start Menu.
- Click on GrFinger Desktop Login Manager

For security reasons, only system administrators are allowed to change GrFinger Desktop Login settings. (Please, read "Important notes" section for further information.)

GrFinger Desktop Login Manager main screen
The following picture shows GrFinger Desktop Login Manager main screen, followed by a brief description of its components.
- List of the current users stored in the database.
- Click to add a new user.
- Click to edit selected user data. (enabled after selecting a user).
- Click to delete selected user. (enabled after selecting a user).
- Click to view selected user data. (enabled after selecting a user).
- Click to change user interface language.
- Click to view more information about GrFinger Desktop Login.
- Click to exit the program.
Adding a user
To add a user to GrFinger Desktop Login, follow the steps below:
- On main screen, click on Add. "Add user" dialog comes up.

- Fill in all fields. Do not forget to choose a login type for the user. Available login types are:
- Login not authorized
- Login using fingerprint
- Login using password
- Login using fingerprint or password
- Login using fingerprint and password
- Click on Acquire Fingerprints to register the fingerprints for this user. "Acquire Fingerprints" dialog comes up.

- The user to be added to the database should touch the fingerprint reader. If the scanning is successful, the message changes to "Samples acquired: 1 of 2". Otherwise, a message box comes up indicating poor image quality. Repeat the procedure with the same finger. If it is successful, the message changes to "Samples acquired: 2 of 2" and OK button is enabled. Click on OK.
- After the fingerprints have been successfully acquired, the message changes from:

to

and Add becomes enabled.
- Click Add to conclude the task. A message box comes up showing success.

Each field has a maximum length restriction: login (20), password (20), confirm password (20), name (255) and description (255). Entries exceeding this limit will be truncated.
The fields "Login", "Password" and "Confirm password" must be related to a valid username and password pair in Windows. This information is not verified by the program. Incorrect data will make the user unable to log on using his/her fingerprint.
OK is disabled until fingerprints have been acquired.
Remember that both samples must be from the same finger.
Editing user data
To edit user data in GrFinger Desktop Login, follow the steps below:
- On main screen, select the user that will be edited by clicking on his/her login. Edit becomes enabled.

- Click on Edit. "Edit user" dialog comes up.

- Change any information you need to. You can even reacquire the fingerprints if the user is not being identified successfully. (Please read "Adding a user", steps 3 and 4, for further information on how to acquire fingerprints).
- Click on edit to conclude the task. A message box comes up indicating success.

Deleting a user
To delete a user from GrFinger Desktop Login, follow the steps below:
- On main screen, select the user who will be deleted by clicking on his/her login. Delete becomes enabled.

- Click on Delete. A message box comes up asking for confirmation. Choose Yes to delete the user or No to cancel.

- If you have chosen to delete the user, a message box comes up indicating success.

This procedure deletes the user from the GrFinger Desktop Login database only. The user information remains in the Windows database, and he/she can still log on using his/her username and password.

Viewing user data
To view user data in GrFinger Desktop Login, follow the steps below:
- On main screen, select the user that you want to view the data by clicking on his/her login. View becomes enabled.

- Click on View. "View user" dialog comes up.

To edit this user data, click on Edit. Then, follow the steps described in "Editing user data".

To delete this user, click on Delete. Then, follow the steps described in "Deleting a user".
Changing user interface language
To change user interface language of GrFinger Desktop Login, follow the steps below:
- On main screen, click on Options. The "Options" dialog comes up.

- Click on the small arrow at the right to show the available languages.
- Select the desired language.
- Click OK.

A message box comes up reminding that you need to restart the program before the changes take effect.
