Windows XP Welcome screen and Fast-User Switching

GrFinger Desktop Login is not yet compatible with Windows XP Welcome Screen and Fast-User Switching. Therefore, after the GrFinger Desktop Login installation, these options will be disabled and the standard Windows login screen will be used whenever the user decides to log on using his/her username and password. |
Password management
In order to automatically log in a certain user, GrFinger Desktop Login needs his/her username and password. These data will be submitted to Windows whenever GrFinger Desktop Login receives a fingerprint and verifies that it belongs to a user allowed to log in to Windows through his/her fingerprint.
For security reasons, the password cannot be obtained directly from Windows. It must be provided when the user registers his/her fingerprint with the program.

Please notice that there is no security breach in this procedure, since the password is stored in the GrFinger Desktop Login database in an encrypted format. Besides, only system administrators are allowed to change GrFinger Desktop Login settings. |

Users not added to GrFinger Desktop Login will logon normally with their usernames and passwords. |
Security

GrFinger Desktop Login is intended to be used only for the sake of convenience, since it offers an easy way to log on to Windows. It was not designed to be a security feature and, therefore, the use of GrFinger Desktop Login to protect sensitive data is not recommended. |
Licensing
GrFinger Desktop Login is distributed with a trial license valid for 90 days*. After this period you have to buy a license to keep using it.

The trial licenses of GrFinger Desktop Login are for non-commercial use. There is no technical limitations: the only difference is the banner added to the fingerprint images displayed when running under trial license.
* Note that after 90 days the application still works normally, but using it without a commercial license will be an explicit violation of the license agreement. To use the commercial license there is no need to reinstall the product, you just have to proper replace the trial license with the commercial one.
