Security
REX Identity doesn't have any security feature itself. There's no access password for any feature, including user registration and user removal. Furthermore, the database file isn't encrypted nor password protected. Since REX Identity runs as an ordinary application, it may be run by any user on the machine it was installed.
If unauthorized access to the application is an important security issue, make sure to enforce the security it in your operating system or physical environment: set execution permissions in the operating system, lock the workstation when not in use, disconnect the fingerprint reader from the machine, restrict access to the computer, etc.
The Desktop Identity feature is intended to be used only for convenience's sake, since it offers an easy way to use biometric recognition in your existing applications for the already registered users. It was not designed to be a security feature, and therefore the use of the Desktop Identity feature with sensitive data is not recommended.
About REX Identity Editions
REX Identity is available in two editions, VERIFICATION and IDENTIFICATION; the difference between them is just the matching speed. The VERIFICATION edition achieves up to 100 matches per second for an identification or verification. For the IDENTIFICATION edition, the verification speed is also up to 100 matches per second, but there's no upper limit for identification speed, it's limited by the the computer hardware running REX Identity.
Licensing
REX Identity is distributed with a trial license valid for 90 days*. After this period you have to buy a license to keep using it.

The trial licenses of REX Identity are for non-commercial use. There is no technical limitation: the only difference is the banner added to the fingerprint images displayed when running under trial license.
* Note that after 90 days the application still works normally, but using it without a commercial license will be an explicit violation of the license agreement. To use the commercial license there is no need to reinstall the product; you just have to proper replace the trial license with the commercial one.

Unregistered REX Identity is provided "as is", with no warranty or support, although questions and comments can be posted on our web-based forum: forum.griaule.com. Bugs can be reported to bugs@griaule.com.
Registered versions feature e-mail support. Please contact support@griaule.com for support with at least the following information:
- Your Griaule customer username;
- Operating system used;
- Fingerprint reader used (if applicable);
- REX device(s) serial number, IP, network mask and gateway (if applicable);
- Detailed description of problem, with error message and any other information that might be relevant.
